Talent and skill?? First off, Edelbrock carbs dont suck, they're a great carb.

Amen. Troublefree, work pretty well out of the box, compact for 2 four manifolds, etc. I love 'em.

As for the 305 vs 350 part............. if you and I start out with two engines, you with your bare 305 and me with an identical 350, then we start adding exactly the same parts, the final result will be the 350 is stronger. It has to be due to the old axium "there is no substitute for cubic inches."

I know there is a certain segment of the car hobby who likes to play David vs Goliath by killing the competition with a small cube motor, but generally more is better in relation to cubes.

We sell boats, and very often a person who buys a new one will come back and say " I should have bought the 5.7 instead of the 5.0 because of the dramatic difference in HP and torque."

But the 305 is still a fine engine.
