Don's answer is right....it will be such a small amount. However, if you
canunlock 100 of the "small amounts" then you have a noticeable amount.

This is why some builders bore a new block....they're searching for tiny gains that will add up. Maybe they index the crank to a tighter tolerance, maybe they run the deck clearance just a tad tigher, maybe they improve the head flow by 1/2 percent.....they're looking for every bit that they can gain. For a street engine (regardless of how "racing" that it is), your street variables are too big (plug condition, fuel quality, jetting.

Dont waste the effort to bore a street engine until it needs to be bored

I think that the NO votes really mean that you wont get any appreciable horsepower increase......of course you will get some

I dunno. Maybe they're thinking cylinder deflection or heat from the thin walls will offset the marginal gains in HP?? It has been tested and proven by Reher-Morrison that aluminum blocks don't make as much hp/torque as the same build in iron blocks b/c of deflection.

The Motown 454 makes a lot more hp than the Motown 427 with the same components by only changing the bore from 4.125 to 4.250.

Well ,I always tought that the piston was also bigger to match compression ratio you had before the bigger bore, but you will get more fuel in the chamber. There also was not a button for a "slight gain".I also think I can say that there is a increase in power ,but you will never feel it on the street. Also if you are using a engine for competition, then every little bit counts so a bigger bore eqauls more cubes.More cubes equal more "power".

but my engine seems to sound more healthy,,,,,,maybe cause the compression ,now is (slight ) more!

I don't think a bored engine will give you much power at all. Now maybe if you got it excited by showing it sexy pictures of girl engines....
