He should at least read the first thread before he makes a comment, did you notice that he still can't understand that Young's building a 327?
There are many ways to build a 327 that can be done with 3k, and I'm the only one that offered a build.
Eric, thank-you for calling me Denny, I think that he's one of the best mechanic's on here, along with Pat, and Mike, so if you want to throw me into that group I'd be glad to be included.

Now where is it that you fit in??

As I have stated a few times I build CNC cylinder heads/engines.I have not been an ASE certified mechanic in over 15 years.Here we go again with the 327 building.That was great in 1986 but this the year 2006 and times have changed.I could'nt even sell a 327 un-less it is a numbers matching block and heads.Everyone wants a 383.The point I was trying to make was you can't build a 421 for $3,000 and it is comparing apples to oranges.I do like the wise crack about tossing "pearl's to swine"That is good but not quite as good as the plastigauge in my bird cage remark.Are you by chance calling me a college trained idiot.Where do I fit in?I did'nt know we where giving out labels or titles to people.I think I fit in somewhere between Dave and Tech. whereever that is.I have been called very eccentric by a lot of people.Who knows they may be right.Yes,I know I shoot my mouth off a lot.Yes,I don't like to change.I like to stick with something that works. :)

Yes,the heads have to come off because I have to take out the light weight checking springs and replace them with the roller springs.In that post he made it sound like he was pulling the heads off several times.I might of mis-understood what he was saying.

More than likley Denny your right- we had 5 teams last year that had 3 or more engines expire during races that had valves slaping the pistons, sealed motors from the machine shops that were supposed to be "race ready" Too much math, and not enough double checking.

The dye is to show me where I have to fly- cut. If I have to, not to show how close the valve is to the piston.I don't use the dye to check for clearence just to show location.

it dont matter what you use, as long as you know, you say something and we argue about it 3 days and now you say you didnt understand what the ? was. we cant read your mind. i been trying to tell you for 3 days if you didnt put something on top of the piston, get the valves to the piston and pull the head back off to see that you had, then you want doing a good job, you didnt say i use dye not plastigauge, all you said was sounds like a lot of trouble to pull the head back off. i think you're making this stuff up as you go along to keep the fight going.

by the way ,i am ASE certified in engine rebuild and engine performance, can i sweep your floor now?

Mike,you are on to me.I give up.Yes,you can sweep the floor in my shop.I might even let you run a flat mill if your good.:)
