Re: 383 cam help
Either of those cams will work fine. I like the Comp the most but if you have a completely stock convertor, I would go with the 268 from comp or lunati. You got enough engine and compression that you don't need a stall with either 268.Originally posted by Randall
I need to choose a cam for the 32 hi boy I'm currently building. 383 engine with a 350 turbo trans, ford 9" w/ 3.50 gears, 30-31 inch tire, car weight should be around 2500 lbs.
74 CC, 2.02 GM heads
CR will be 9.75:1 according to my calculations
After calling the cam companies, I think I have narrowed it down to 2 cams:
Lunati 60103 -
Adv duration - 268/276
Dur @ .050 - 227/233
Lift - .489/.504
LSA - 110
ICL - 106
Comp Cams 12-246-3
Adv dur - 274/286
Dur @ .050 - 230/236
Lift - .487/.490
LSA - 110
ICL - 106
Do either of these look good to you guys? What do you think will be best, a little more lift or duration? Any other suggestions are much appreciated.RAY
