Speaking of honing...
Just got a couple of questions regarding honing:
I intend to use Moly rings, standard thickness, .060 overbored, with hyper pistons.
What grit honing stones should I use?
What angle should the crosshatch be?
How critical is the angle?
Thanks for any answers,

Re: Speaking of honing...
600 grit,it depends on if it is done manually or with a machine.I.M.O. the final finish is more important than the angle.Originally posted by MadMax

The point I was making was I don't want people think you can just grab a piece of sand paper and go to town.Which is what someone had posted earlier in a another post about honing.Originally posted by DennyW
Go read these. It's not quit as simple as that. You need to know why, and what to use from the start.

The finish is important, but the hatch angle is also important.

When you get your rings, the manufacturer should provide the proper grit. Moly rings like round bores and a smoother hone. Cast rings will tolerate a lot and take a rougher hone around 220.I intend to live forever; so far, so good.

This is about the fifth time I’ve tried to reply to this thread. It looks like it’s actually working at the moment.
