Just got a couple of questions regarding honing:
I intend to use Moly rings, standard thickness, .060 overbored, with hyper pistons.
What grit honing stones should I use?
What angle should the crosshatch be?
How critical is the angle?

600 grit,it depends on if it is done manually or with a machine.I.M.O. the final finish is more important than the angle.Quote:

The point I was making was I don't want people think you can just grab a piece of sand paper and go to town.Which is what someone had posted earlier in a another post about honing.Quote:

The finish is important, but the hatch angle is also important.
When you get your rings, the manufacturer should provide the proper grit. Moly rings like round bores and a smoother hone. Cast rings will tolerate a lot and take a rougher hone around 220.
