99 chevy 350 Vortec
OK guys I have a 99 burban with 270K on the clock still runs good just had a new trans built and beefed up for towing well I been thinkin bout pullin the engine while its slow here and freshening it up ,any one put there own stroker kit in ,we mainly tow with this truck and I want low end grunt ,I know you have to grind on the block for clearance ,I have rebuilt lotsa engines in my days my son hasnt so I thought hey a good project (for warranty purposes we send all engine work out)any cam ideas while we are there ?will a balanced kit be OK it wont be seein high rpms .Should I just let our machine shop do it?just finished a frame off resto mod 67 Chevellewith 383 stroked LT1 and a 75 mb 450 SL (not a hot rod but a sweet old convertable}Now am restoring a 69 Nova SS

My machine shop is gonna do the whole engine with a stroker for $1800 , so much for that ,any cam suggestions I have a CC304 in the 383 LT1 and it seems pretty strong ,think I should do the same for the Vortec?just finished a frame off resto mod 67 Chevellewith 383 stroked LT1 and a 75 mb 450 SL (not a hot rod but a sweet old convertable}Now am restoring a 69 Nova SS

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
