That's a very low compression ratio but it will be OK if your a beginner because it will give you experience with the light and should be very consistent in bracket racing which is the ticket. Speed means nothing as long as its consistent in bracket racing. I do think you will get bored rather quick though with the performance of such a low compression engine. I was taught that if you put a decimal in the octane number you could be pretty safe with that CR. Ex.-- 87 octane=8.7 CR, 93 octane=9.3
CR. That's conservative numbers but safe. Make sure you use a short duration cam like stock w/ a little more lift or you will really be dissappointed with the performace output.
