I'd rather have a canister than a spin on myself, filters right there where you can get to it. I find them less messy myself, becuse there always verticle , and the canister catches the oil, just use a rag taking the filter out and use it to catch the mess, then clean out the canister with the rag, put new filter in and fill 1/2 way full of fresh oil, I did that with my '51 Chevy, and it took about 10 minuites, and never jacked the car up, was tight but I got it. I got the falcon ( spin on ) without jacking too tho, but that was because the filter is right on the side, out in the open, and the drain plug is right in front.Originally posted by R Pope
Any parts supply house should carry a changeover kit, I've used lots of them. Sure takes the mess out of a filter change! The filters aren't as big, granted, but you just change them a little more often.You don't know what you've got til it's gone
