    Any ideas on this

Got a 327 with GJ 4 barrall. Sometimes it idils slow, sometimes high. Sometimes motor run good, sometimes not good. No vacum leaks. Has headers, Old heads with the 13/16 plugs. Oil spoct on intake. a 1968 motor. 400 auto transmission C-10 truck. Only had it two weeks. Have put about 300 miles on it. Have put another carberater on it. Seens to do the same thing. Some wetnesss comming out for intake, not gas. maybe a little water with some oil, not sure. new gas filter, but rust in line. Runs cool , good oil pressure. Some times it seens like it wants to backfire. Have heard a funny sound at exhast. blows out water when it cranks. Want to keep it going until summer, Then will rebuild. John.

maby a vac leak under the intake where you cannot see it, but if anything is seeping out of the intake, that would also cause a vac leak.
You don't know what you've got til it's gone

Could be a leaking head gasket, or a cracked head.

John, the water coming out of the tail pipe when you start it, is probably condensation out of the muffler. Normal on cars that's driven short trips.

Thanks to all for your answers. I,ve decided to put some heads on and a diffent intake. Now this question. The 327 has headers on it. I,m thinking about converting to stock exhast so it will be a little queiter. I know I will loose some hoursepower. But it all so viberates when at a stop and ofcourse its hard to change plugs. The heads that I will be putting on are off a 350. And the plugs are the 5/8. What are some comments on that. Thanks, John.

Just had a thought. The spring, the one thats on the intake right next to the carbarator that controls the flap in the carberator. Dont know whats its called. Its supose to unwind as the engine heats up so the flap will open. Do you think maybe its not working right and could be causeing the issues I,ve asked about? And can you evan buy those little coil springs anywhere. Thanks, John.

Is the headgaskets going to be the same for all the smallblocks. And ifnot, When you buy the gaskets do you buy for the block or the heads. Thanks, John.
