4.3 ID #s
i got a guy whos gonna ask around and try to get me a used 4.3 for my truck. he wants the ID numbers for the motor so where do i find them? and are they really necessary to find a 4.3? cant i just tell him i need a 262 4.3 V6?

Not for a 'project' car/engine. Most salvage yards want the infomation from the engine you are 'replacing', assuming that you are replacing a bad engine. There are 3 different versions of 4.3L.
1) Early carburated
2) Early injected
3) Lated injected (Vortec)
If you want to use a carb, get an early non-Vortec engine. I think it's pre '92 ('85-'91?). What yard are you working with?---Tom

its in a 92 FSC with TBI is that early injection?

You'll have to forgive me, but what's a FSC? Go to the Hot Rod Magazine website and look for an article called 'Three Quarter 350.Originally posted by muteboy49

Been getting the truck back together. Painted the wheels and got the tires mounted. Went with 235 55 17 all around. Too cheap.to chrome so I painted the bumper and hood emblem with some silver I had...
