you mentioned maybe you had incorrectly installed timing chain and alignment marks on cam. Make sure you have aligned the marks on crank gear and cam gear. If you already have, just start with the basics with what you do know for sure. Alignment marks set, #1 at tdc, Distr. rotor pointing at #1 cyl., and firing orders on plug wire correct.
