Timing Chain cover
Is it possilbe to replace the timing chain cover without dropping the oil pan? also my first time thru the process so any tips woule be great. this is on a 350

It is easier to remove the cover AFTER removing the front two or three front pan bolts on each side. Remove the timing cover. As you pry it forward from the top. You will see where the lower seal retainer, side strips, bind on the lower block surface. After removal. Clean this area. Then trim (cut off) the upper area of the lower seal retainer on the front cover. At about a 45 degree angle.
When you replace the cover. Use a good amount of silicone sealer on the rubber seal and around the modified area. after install start all your cover bolts. Then tighten the front pan bolts. Go back and tighten the cover bolts.
Works every time..

Just make sure that you are secure around the line up pins before tighting other wise you will have a massive leak.
What a cool old car. I’m glad it will still be near you, and taken care of.
