Hey dog, yes u can do it. when u put it back put a little extra silicone on the oil pan lip , not too much. and start the pan bolts first. but first start the engine if u r not sure about the timing. u will know if it starts right up. be sure to change oil afterwards.
ty for the help, but start wich bolts first?
It is easier to remove the cover AFTER removing the front two or three front pan bolts on each side. Remove the timing cover. As you pry it forward from the top. You will see where the lower seal retainer, side strips, bind on the lower block surface. After removal. Clean this area. Then trim (cut off) the upper area of the lower seal retainer on the front cover. At about a 45 degree angle.
When you replace the cover. Use a good amount of silicone sealer on the rubber seal and around the modified area. after install start all your cover bolts. Then tighten the front pan bolts. Go back and tighten the cover bolts.
Works every time..
Just make sure that you are secure around the line up pins before tighting other wise you will have a massive leak.
