Engine and Tranny I.D. (HELP!!!)
I recently purchased a 1966 Chevy Caprice. I have decided to restore it and have begun the process. It used to have a 327 but has been replaced with what I believe is a 350! After pulling the engine and tranny today, I wrote the numbers down and hope you all can help me I.D. them so I can start the rebuild! Here are the numbers:
Engine:
3970010 (the 1 caould also be: A/M/H/I ???)
V0808TKT
Tranny:
CFM 8640831 GM-2
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!!

3970010 block is a four inch bole large main bearing unit produced from late 68 into the late seventies. It is one of the most common of these blocks. It was used as 302-327-350 base. As for the trans what is the shape of the pan? square (powerglide) or square with one corner cut short (350 turbo).

So the block is a 350? If so, then what is the VO8OTKT mean?
Thanks for all the help!

I saw last night on fb about John. The world sure lost a great one. I'm going to miss his humor, advice, and perspective from another portion of the world. Rest in Peace Johnboy.
