    A ceramic coating will significantly extend the life of a piston in case of detonation. Not a cure, but it will help, and might make the difference between a WHOOPS and an OH $HIT !

    Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

    Mahle has used a "Grafal Coated " piston for a long time.
    I would never mess around with any "do it youself" stuff.
    If you shop around you can find a set of Mahle pistons with rings for $500.
