Ok I know I posted this before but now it's in the correct spot so I will post it again. If anyone lives near or in Charlotte, Monroe, Matthews, Waxhaw or maybe even Rock Hill and have a car or truck for sale (preferably in the 30's and some 40's) or any year under the 70's then let me know. I have been looking for quite some time and still can't find any. I also am not looking for anything over 5 or 6000 bucks. Thanks.

Ay man thanks a lot. Umm... anything Chevy, Mostly wan't a 37 Chevy truck or a older 30's or 40's Mercury. If you know of anything at all then let me know. I wan't something with a 350 in it or bigger. I don't have much money at all so trying to look for something even under 4500 if possible. Also for the condition, I know it's hard to find car's out here with no or little body rust but I wan't something with not a lot of it. Also where at exactly do you live? Is it ON lake norman? Also forgot to add, any coupes are nice but doubt I can find any in my price range. Buick's, OLD Cadi's, or 30's or 40's Ford Trucks are nice too. Basically anything under the year 69. Thanks again.
There's a 49-50 Chevy 2 door for sale up here on Hwy 16, haven't stopped and looked but it's not bad from the road. Don't know any particulars but I could stop and get you a number if you like and maybe a pic or two.
Most of the family lives ON the lake but I prefer more dirt around me than I could afford ON the lake. The kids love the lake but I can take it or leave it.

Is highway 16 Providence? If so then I live right off that street.
Ok yeah I am dumb, I live right off Providence right after that new road to Rea Road is at (going towards Waxaw) in the new developement with some million dollar homes. I haven't seen any old car's around here but yeah any info on it would be really helpful. Thanks again.
Yeah, Providence on your end. I'm speaking of Hwy 16 just inside Lincoln County. You would take 74W, get onto Brookshire Blvd, cross the Catawba River into Gaston County. Just after you leave Gaston and enter Lincoln it's on the right, about the 4th-5th house. That's about 15-17 miles from downtown Charlotte. If you map it, it's about 1 mile east of Lowesville.

Alright I think I know where your talking about. I will try and map it on mapquest. I have been down that way a few times but just forget street names, like I will know the name of the street but can't picture where it's at and all.
Ok well I am looking on Mapquest.com but can't find lincoln anywhere. I am trying to see where your talking about but can't find it. I see W and E Brookshire Freeway and that' it. Sorry for all the complication, I am just trying to figure out exactly where this place is at.
Oh, almost forgot, do you know what kind of chevy it is? car or truck? Also do you think it will be a lot?

I know your young, but chevy made only one kind of car in the early 50's. No Novas, Impalas, etc. If it is a two door it could be a coupe (Sedan) or a fastback (Aeroback they called them.)

Actually Sport, I think this is a '50 Vette...........and yes it's raining but this old "redneck" from a place you think "sucks" stopped and got your info anyway.
1950 Chevrolet DeLuxe 2 door hardtop......$3500......1677 S.Hwy 16, 704-996-2658 or 704-735-0372. Original interior, daylight showing through the floor in a couple of places I saw, it was locked. Panel below the trunk lid was rusted out. Generally what you would expect to find in a 50 model. Would make a nice hot rod though.

For your edification, and to help you not look uninformed, the body style is not a "hardtop". Had you not had pictures, the description could have been misleading. To those in the know, a "hardtop" would be the body style without door/window posts, and in 1950 would have only been available as a two door Bel Air. The body style you've shown is a sedan. If the quarter windows were the shorter version (along with the roof being corespondingly shorter) that would be a coupe.

Always willing to help out a young fella interested in cars/hot rods. I had my first one when I was 14 and have had grease under my fingernails ever since. This '50 will make someone a nice piece. I spent several pre-elementary school years riding in my Dads shiny new '50. Back then the back seat seemed as big as a house, kind of looks different to me now.

FMX, when you get an oldie or anything else you have to do to it what makes YOU happy. This one might have tempted me except for the fact that I'm NOT a bowtie type guy. My blood runs Ford blue. I had a real difficult time in deciding which route to go on my '68. Would I be happy with it as an original.......probably not. Sooooo it's goodie time! Then I'll get a real grin!
Alright well thanks a ton, I am going to call the guy right now, I just talked to my dad but he doesn't like how it has all the rust. I don't really know exactly what to do but I know that if the floor is all rusted out that I can buy the floor panels from some place I saw on one of my magazines. Well I am going to call right now. I will let you know how it goes.
I just called the guy. He said that it has a 6 cylinder (forgot to ask what size) I am guess 283? It is a 3 speed straight drive, has original engine and the mile gauge has 53,400 on it, there is rust on the bumper, some on the trunk, a handful on the floor, and that's about it..... Now what if I wanted to get rid of that rust, how would I go about doing it.... bondo? Also what about switching the engine to a 350 or 454? Any tips or idea's would be great. Thanks.
A 283 is a V-8 but not being a Chevy guy I'm not sure what a '50 inline 6 was, a 235 maybe.

Rust.....cut it out and weld new in, don't cover it up with Bondo or it will be back again.
Alright thank's a lot! Yeah I need to find someone that lives around me to help me out with my car because my dad has forgotten how to do lot's of stuff he said and I don't know much still. Even though I have taken the auto tech class I still don't know how to build an entire engine and would like to know someone that does and that can help me with timing and all that stuff.
FMX, the car probably has a 216 6cyl, there are only 2 motors I know of that were used back then, the 216 and the 230. I myself am probably buying a 1950 Chevy 4dr sedan with the 2spd Powerglide auto, he says it's got the 216 but, he was getting told that the automatics had the 230, he dosen't know 4 shure if that's true but that's what he told me when I called him. The price sounds a little high cause, the one I'm probabbly geting, the guy only wants 1,200 and, that's not firm and, it only needs a fuel pump diaphram, rechromed bumpers and a paint job cause, he fixed all the rest, new points and condensor, brakes and master cylender and exaust, floor and trunk pans and a few other things but, back to your car, it's probably safe to say it's a 216 cause that's what most were. Oh the guy tells me also that fender skirts for those cars are 175.00 each but, he's throwing a set in with the deal for me. So I guess if u buy that car and, I buy the 1 I'm looking at, we'd be in the same boat, cept I would use the original drivetrain and, power it up so, it would do the speed limit.
Yeah man that's cool. I wan't really bad but I need to look at it first. My dad doesn't wan't a V 6 he said and neither do I but it would be good for me to get it to learn how to build an engine again because I built an entire engine ONCE but it was fuel injected and all from some newer car like a 2001 or something and I forgot how to do some of the stuff like all the timing and stuff like that. I don't know though, it seems like it will be impossible for me to learn everything on how to build it up, like I wan't to make it fast, not just a street rod or for cruising but then if I make it fast I don't know what parts are best to get with what and all that stuff so I will be (in the future) asking ton's of questions. I need to really find someone here that can help me out like come to my house of something and help me build this thing since my dad said he forgot lot's of stuff and I don't trust someone that doesn't know much at all. If I were to get that car then I would strip it to the frame, sand the whole frame down and paint it, new front and rear end (don't have any clue what kind but probably like a 9" rear end so I can put some double wides on the back), umm disk brakes, then get the rims and tires and the shocks and springs on it. Then from there I don't know what else I would do. That's where the help would have to come in. I don't know anyone here that can help me so that's the problem.
Just for the info, there str8 6's and not V6's, there very reliable yet, not very good performers ( without modification ). You gotto remember a few things intaling swapping a motor in a car that old, they are 6 volt systems and a 350 runs off of 12 volt so, the car would need to be compleatly rewired for 12 volt, if your gagues are electric, they will need to be replaced or converted, the lighting system would need converted unless you could put in some kind of kick down relay so you could use the original sockets and lamps. Also would need new motor mounts. I should have the one I'm looking at home by friday, if I get it but, it's almost definite that I will.
Yeah.... well maybe I shouldn't get this car then. I don't have lot's of money, I have no job and I am going to be out of high school in a year and I have no money saved up. 500 bucks in the bank account and that's it. Suck's when you can't get hired anywhere because your 16. I don't know how to do all that wiring bullshit and all so I am about to say screw it. I was going to go and check out the car tomarrow but I don't think I will now. I am going to just look for another car with a 350 in it already so I don't have to spend so much money fixing rust, changing to 12 volt, new engine, new transmission, etc.
Yeah, I know what you mean, the painless wiring kit you would need would drain your bank account alone, although a painless kit's are supposto be very easy to install and have good instructions, and there really nice cars but, you probably wouldn't have the funding and I understand where ur coming from, there is better out there for less, u just gotta finds it.
I am about to give up. I have been looking for a long ass time now. Every time I find one my dad doesn't like it.... it won't even be his car. He is dumb anyways and doesn't know shit about them anymore, plus he won't ever work on it with me he is too busy worrying about himself like always. I don't know what to do anymore....

I might as well go look at it (which I was going to do today but have to hold that off for tomarrow) I am going to make sure there are no real big problems with it and all. The guy said that it has 58,400 miles on the original engine which has to be bullshit. I asked him if he ever rebuilt it and he kind of hesitated and said "I don't know.... umm no never." Also every question I asked him he hesitated to answer. He was also kind of rude when I called too. I will go see though and tell you what I think when I get back tomarrow. Is there kit's you can buy to convert a 6v to a 12v? My auto tech teacher said that it's pretty easy and that I don't have to change the wiring out, just to change the bulb's.... what all is supposed to be done in that process too?
Ok, I think I can help you, the car could very well have only 58,000 on it, the reason I say that is because you have to figure that the cars wearn't driven very far cause towns were indipendent and, most people worked on farms or owned and/or operated stores in there town. Now you probably don't even need to know this cause you probabbly would go for a new raido cause the old one is an AM but, they are 6 volt and would need replaced. Painless makes the conversion kits ( other suppliers also ), now I have heard on this site somewhere where you could make the car start on 12 volt but run on 6 volt, I do not know how to make that work but, it would make your life easier. Personally, I would rod the engine in there cause, there tough engines that are easy to work on. A nice say, 4-71 blower would work good. Oh, the 216 that the car has to have ( cause it's manual trans ) makes 92 HP @ 3,400 RPM. Firing order is 153624. Mine's looking good for thursday to pick it up, but I won't have much work to do on it cause the guy arleady fixed all the floor pans including trunk, replaced master cylender and replaced all brakes and lines, put all new ignitions systems in it ( points@condensor, plugs and wires ). All it really needs is a fuel pump diaphram and rechromed bumpers and also a new paint job.
I just booked the value of your car and it came up at $3,300 as low value cause that's what catagory it would be in cause it needs rust work but the drivetrain is good working order.
Where did you get that from? Can I see that because I will show him it and offer him 2500. If I got a guy to go from 7000 to 3500 then I can do the same with this. Because there was this malibu for sale for 7000 but it was 4 door and worth nothing and the guy wanted 7000 and I told him 3000 or no deal and he said no. Later that week he called back said he would take 5500 I said nope. He called back the next week and said 4500 or 5000 I still said..... nope. Then he called again and said he will take 3500 and I said no and no I don't wan't it anymore. But yeah about the radio, I would sure take it out and put a CD player in it and convert everything straight to 12 volt. ON the transmission it's a 3 speed straight so no auto. I am not going to keep that engine if I got it, I would put a 350 or 454 if one could fit and then a 400 turbo transmission. But yeah dude today going to career center for auto tech I found in a really tiny like 25 car junk yard or fenced in all messed up cars and there was (I am almost 100% positive) a 50 chevy, the EXACT same kind as the other one. I was thinking if I got that car to get that one out of the junk and use parts for it if any good but no bumpers on it like the one I wan't to buy and I wan't the bumpers or the original ones. But yeah man if you get that car and I get this one then we should help eachother out and all on it.
