Hey guys, it's been a while. I had a question for the experts. I have a 72 454 that overheats and a new hi torque mini starter that seems to have heat soak issues.
The 454 has hooker long tube headers and flat top aftermarket pistons. Nothing crazy inside the motor. Its made to get power and torque in the 2500 rpm range it starts, runs and drives fantastic. it will take 20 minutes to climb its way to 235 degrees in park before I'm forced to shut it off. New water pump, new 3 row aluminum rad, and i even backed off the timing to 34 degrees trying to get the temp down. I pulled out the thermostat and installed 2 12 inch electric fans and an aluminum shroud. I'm stumped on both of these. Maybe I got too much coolant? Radaitor never boils over.

The starter is new and won't crank when hot. I got a heat shield wrap with no luck. PLEASE give me a clue. Thanks!
