Any malfunction of the braking system is potentially dangerous Frank, have it checked out immediately.

That model has an extra vacuum booster motor on the system. Here's a link to an answer that goes into lots of detail about how it works, what the code means, and several different things that may cause the code. Scroll down to #3

Frank, have you googled 2003 Silverado brake booster, or 2003 Silverado Recalls? You might be surprised at the mass of information out there in vehiclde specific forums.

    Frank,there is a G.M. srevice bulletin on this. Bulletin # 02-05-23-004
I would post it up for ya but it is 5 pages long and I'm sure its copy righted.
The short of it is intake replacement for a vacuum starvation and re program the instrument panel. You could do the intake yourself but usually you'll hafta take it to the dealer for the reprogram. also says you'll need a new owners manual after the re program ??
part numbers on the intake are 89017230,throttle body gasket 17113561, intake gasket 17113557.

I did check on recalls and there is a recall if it is equipped with a hydra boost system.
