    Door Threshold

I'm needing to get/make a door threshold to cover wiring, and to cover the carpet edge. With a 1" channel my threshold has an extra "step". I have considered making one out of some nice walnut, hollowing out a wireway on the bottom and dropping over the edge about an inch to meet the step shown and finishing it to a satin shine. The edge bows out in the middle, so it will be cut to fit. Also thinking that a re-pop stock piece might still fit OK, even with the channel. Here's what I'm dealing with - the tape comes down to the extra step which is nominal 1/8" inset from the "natural" edge below it. I know tha in time a wood piece is going to be scuffed and will require periodic refinishing. Any thoughts? Good source for a re-pop threshold, if that is the answer?
