I thought that I would start this thread so folks could share their pictures of project they are working on.

Here is my latest project. I am doing a custom spider web design on a set of seats for a 1959 Impala. The owner wanted to mix some old school looks with the webbing on green metallic Naugahyde. I added the diamond pleat to give it the old school look and feel.

Thats pretty cool, alot tedius on the stiching time ... but cool !! nice job. :) Are they keeping you busy over there ?

This is a 55 we did a couple of monhts ago. we did it in leather, but wanted to keep it in a factory style for looks .

Very cool look. The time that went into that had to be considerable.

With my new machine I am having to learn everything in a trail and error way. After running about 40 miles or so of thread I am just now getting to the place were I can sew a straight line some of the time. When I look at a piece like that it makes me want to learn more. Good work!!

I asked Steve why he doesn't put those details in there also, he said it can cover up some details for the upholstery shop. Makes sense, this is to show exactly what I want from the poultry shop, so there is no confusion.

That 55 is beautiful, if I had to choose one car it would be the 55 HT. In the late 60's I had a 55 HT. factory power windows, and seat. I had 55's 56's 57's still have a project 55 2dr. sedan in the garage but you just can't beat the hard top. You really did an outstanding job.

Ken has way too many 32’s one of his would be my second choice.

You did a great job on the '55 Chevy. Leather adds a touch of class to the interior for sure.

Here's the interior of my 50 Stude Champion. I widened the dash 4" to clear the A/C heater defroster. I'm working on the center console for the CD/DVD player. Ihaven't decided what to do with the rest of the interior but something to match the the 6 way power leather seats and console from a 2003 Trailblazer.

beautiful work there 1954Merc!! Back in the late 60s I had a 55 Chev that had red and white metalflake interior. If your old enough, you'll remember that was a slick plastic material. I doubt they even make the stuff anymore, and it was a short lived fad even in it's day, but the green material you're using reminds me of that stuff, and concequently my 55. I sure miss that old girl. she was a runner.

there have been a few rods with the thick metalflake getting around over here latley, it looks cool in the right car,
nice work guys great looking trim jobs keep em comming.

I am having trouble trying to choose a color to trim my vauxhall, its hard to pic a color from just a small sample patch, any suggestions which color trim would go best with this violet color.

lotsatoys, they are making the old Naugahyde vinyl again it is called Zodiac. That is what I am using. It is the same thing that they made back then but due to legal issues they call it Zodiac now.

barnsey; I would recommend soft sand color for your interior. You could use the same color you have outside as an accent for the inside. It would look great.

Art classes teach that the natural complimentary color for purple is yellow. How about a light creamy tan, or maybe a cream color?

Safe bets include neutral colors like white, gray or black, but those are too common for me. Another option might be to try to match the body color, for part of the interior....but my vote would be for a light tan or cream.

I was talking to an old guy today, he said he has a 20 linial metre roll of leather look buckskin at his work shop, it was left behind when the motor trimmer who used to work there went bust, he said if i want it i can have it for $100, the roll is about 2m wide :)
looks like i will go and visit this old fella at his shop after the xmas break and have a look.
I havn't seen buckskin before, but would imagine it as being a light color, worth a look though $100 for a 20 metre roll sounds cheap enougth.

This is going into a 1959 Impala.

Its been a while since ive been here. A lot has changed in 2009 for us. Life has been a big whirlwind, Between my wife and I we lost 3 of our parents in 2009. We started building our dream home, put our house on the market, over priced as to drag out to allow time to finish our new house. Well someone bought it in 5 days. Since I also inherited my moms corvette, and already had a dragster, mustang, and anglia, That forced the imediate sale of all the other garage items, It was whatever 2 cars other then the vette sold were out of there. Mustang, Anglia, Gone. I hated to sell the anglia as it was my dads project car but the Vette meant the world to my mom, it was her baby and it made her very happy. Any way here is what I have now, no new vette pics, I have not had the heart do drive it yet.

If a guy wanted to sew his own interior what would be a good industrial sewing machine make and model to purchase? How about "used or reconditioned" machines? What do you need to "look for" in the condition of a used machine? How about renting one for a month or so? Not looking to do it full time, but would still want a machine that would produce a good quality stitch in leather.

My roadster will be ready for side panels and carpet soon. Any suggestions on sewing the welting around carpet?

Many years ago my dad was building a kit car. So for Christmas he got my step mother a new sewing machine for her gift. She loved it until 4 hours after opening the presents, he took it out to the garage to do his seat covers.

I finally got around to posting the 1959 Impala seats finished and installed.

WOW! That is really nice. Sure wish we didn't have so many miles between us. Great job and yes I'm sure it was quite tedious.

Carpet??? We don't need no stinkin' carpet!!!! But with that plastic engine in there you're gonna need all them holes in the floor so you can walk it home!!!!!

Yeah, but with no posi it will push around the corners easier anyhow!!!!! Started digging through old 9" parts last night, found some 5.13's, a light weight spool, and an N case---should be enough for my 'maro...:D
