This is a great section to all who can tech a how to if its seats to hard headliners to replacing a stock type . The have a great one at hot rodders done by Dan two lakes in Wisconsin and he has the trade secrets up . He doesn't leave you to any guessing at all. On the Hamb I believe he goes by Stitch .
Some great tech could come here now not to answer a question but a pic tech on what you do to put in a custom or stock interior .

I can't believe 1954Merc??? No patience at all.
Didn't get what he wanted right away so he left. If that's how he runs his business I don't think I'd use him.

Let's not start a hate fest here. Clearly he did not understand how things worked and all he had to do was send me a PM and I would attempt to get it done. Someone else PM'd me with this thread, I got a hold of Brent (not always an easy task as he too has a full time job and a family) who made it happen as we can now see.
1954Merc has logged in since the new forum was opened, so he knows it is now active. His choice whether to now participate as an active member or not.
Let's not turn this thread any further in a negative direction.
Here is wishing all of you a healthy and a happy new year.

I felt the same way as you........his post sounded very ungrateful and demanding. What we have to remember is that we don't pay one red cent for the privilege of being able to use this site. Brent spends his money to maintain it and Bill freely gives an enormous amount of time to moderate it. Lighten up and be grateful for what we have here. I also didn't care for the part about "I shouldn't have to PM the mod he should see this and respond." Bill is NOT your servant, you were the one wanting it, how about getting off of your lazy butt and taking the time to PM him?
Geeesh!!!

You are right Bill, I did check in to see about the progress. I might post something on here, but I'm not sure if the guys who bashed me for having this idea really want me too. I know a lot of guys in this business and they act as if it is a big secret and that we should not share our knowledge or we might loose work. I for one enjoy teaching others this trade. It is a dying art.For example, ten years ago there were four upholstery shops in this county now I have the only one. Not to brag, but I am a perfectionist and I try to do my best at everything I do.
Maybe I should have PM'd you and this whole thing would have gone in a different direction and for that I am at fault, but to put me down for the suggestion as some did made me cross and I figured that they didn't want to know what I was wanting to share.
With that said we can end this now and we can move on to sharing the art of upholstery. For all those who really want to ask me for advice, I am here and I will help as promised.

We've all had bad days and posted things we regret later, but our comments weren't about you having the idea, it was the way you were picking up your toys and going home that put the fur up.
Personally, I think an upholstery area is a great addition. Where I live it is darned near impossible to find a shop that understands custom upholstery jobs like rolls and pleats. They want to replace seats in Lexus and other cars for dealerships and if you ask them about doing a hot rod interior they have no clue how to do it right. I swear I am going to drive my 46 to Tijuana when it's running to get my interior done.

It wasn't that I was taking my toys and running. I decided to got to another forum to post my ideas and work and help others. I too am a busy man and to post info on two sites would take hours. That is the only reason I went somewhere else.
Now with that said,,,,, LET"S MOVE ON.

I'm sorry, didn't mean to start a hate feast or bash anyone. Just didn't see any reason for him to be miffed and leave. We all lead busy lives and not all things are going to happen overnight.
I'm here to learn and glad to have you back 1954merc!Livin' on Route 66

Hey neighbor,
You keep long days!
I see you decided to post here again, It shows how much of a man you are. And after all the hammering you got, cause your busy working!!!!! And helping me, and others to figure out how to do mine/ours, and to get the time to type back to me, on another site, were he asked and they didn't ask why, they just gave him everything he asks for, each time and asked him if he wants more, and has proven to be great guy and great help!
He didn't pick up his toys and leave, but he should have, He's been busy working!
I Have gotten lots of good info from 54merc, He Does fantastic work!!!!!!!!!! Not your moonlighter type work! Top Line type stuff! and he has been willing to help anyone! He wants to share his knowledge to help people get the best they can out of doing it yourself, But if you want some really, really good work done, bring it to him! He won't let you down.
To use his words, he works till his hands hurt, or if he can't quit get it the way he wants, he takes a break, has some coffee and a smoke, and then gets right back at. He doesn't let it win, he does!
And it does only take minutes to set up the section, just ask bill or Brent how much time it actually took!
Like he say's:
With that said we can end this now and we can move on to sharing the art of upholstery. For all those who really want to ask me for advice, I am here and I will help as promised. 54merc
I still say that you and Tim need to do a stitch off and each use one of my cars! LOL
