dumb bellhousing question
I got a bellhousing off ebay and the bottom of it wouldn't clear my 168t flywheel.
Is the flywheel the important factor when choosing a bell? Also, I noticed that the bolt patter on most bells goes all the way around it, but on the engine only the top half has a bolt up surface.
Does the bottom of the bell actually bolt to anything?
If the bell goes all the way around, how can you inspect the clutch?

One more thing, is the center hole in the bell important?
Does that hole fit snuggly with a circular part on the trans. to support it, or is it the large rectangular mounting surface that provides all the support?
If I find a bell with the wrong size center opening can it be modified?
well I decided to do another mod to gain max travel of bars past the intended travel points just for that peace of mind. 1/8 inch is to close so now I'll have 1/2" or better. I cut a 3/16" wall...
