The TV cable is critical as I'm certain you're aware.. if the fluid looks the slightest off color, it's toast.

And the change of shifts would tell me it's lunching on the clutches.. Drop the pan and see what the bottom holds.
Supposedly it only takes minutes without the TV cable and it'll overheat and fry the clutches.
