Last time I had a rebuild, it was about $200 shy from a Summit transmission getting freight dropped to my doorstep.

So, the last time I needed a trans, I ordered one, and sold the old one on the cheap.

Seems like no matter which shop I use, the result is the same. Not started as promised, not finished as promised, higher cost than promised, and required return for a leak or other problem.

So far, two summit transmissions, and zero problems. I may never have a transmission rebuilt again.

Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.
