Hi! just installed a TCI streetfighter tranny with a 1800 stall converter in my '63 Galaxie 500 conv. (running EFI on a 460ci/7.5 engine - see picture ). I notice that at high rpm's off the line, the shift points are barely noticeable (a good thing), nice and quick. BUT, in highway driving, the shifts feel like someone is kicking the ass of the car! I called TCI and they say that is expected in a competition type tranny... are they correct? Is this normal? Thanks!

I'd say yes. When we put a B&M shift kit in my son's Mustang with AOD tranny it shifted hard and solid, more noticeable at lower rpm, part throttle than under more acceleration. Idea is that all slip is gone, because if it slips during the shift with lots of HP & torque it will start burning clutches a little bit every shift.

That sounds right to me also. I ran a full competition B&M kit in a 700R4 I had behind a mild 350 in an Astro and it would hit real hard at part throttle. Full throttle shifts were smooth and crisp.

Does your set up have any means of throttle position to the trans??????????If I remember back in those years that I had 460s---there is a rod /linkage from the carb down to the trans---------
