Yeah Dave, your title mentions "AOD" and I think it would fit the bill nicely for what you describe, especially built right like Mike points out. I do think that an external cooler is necessary, especially for towing, and that you will need to lock out the OD when towing just about anything - that OD clutch is a band type (as I understand) and it does not take loads well. Once it starts slipping things get hot quickly - my old F150 started shuddering & shaking one day pulling an empty car hauler flatbed down the highway, but luckily it was just hot fluid and settled down once out of OD.
