If there isn't fluid in the tranny, it will not move. When I was in high school, I put a v8 in my car with a floor shift instead of the column shift. I set the gear shift linkage in the same spot as the old tranny and we started it up and ran it for a couple of minutes and checking for leaks. The next day I bought some tranny fluid and put it in because I knew there wasn't any. I started it up and got to the front of the car and revved it up at the carb because I didn't have the throttle linkage hooked up and that thing took off. It hit my friends camaro and pushed it to the end of the drive before I got it shut down. So, I recommend putting fluid in the car and when you start it, stay in until you know it will not take off without you.
I saw last night on fb about John. The world sure lost a great one. I'm going to miss his humor, advice, and perspective from another portion of the world. Rest in Peace Johnboy.
