C-6 Movement Issues
Hi, I'll try and explain this as best i can, if i miss anything, let me know.
I've got a late 60's or early/mid 70's C-6 hooked up to a 68 Ford 390 BB. I bought the engine, tranny, and married t-case (the gear driven one, i think its the np205). Though I bought them from teh same person, I bought them seperately.
I had a NP435 with a divorced NP205 in there (factory 77 Highboy F-250). Loved the combo, But for mud racing, I needed an auto. So i bought the tranny from my buddy. He hadnt touched it, save for taking the slap shifter that was on it. I put on a B&M Z-gate on it, adjust it well, and shifted perfectly.
Now, This is the tranny/t-case that came off of the motor, So i figured everything would be hunky-dory, right?
Well, i guess i was wrong. Bolted it on, got the engine warmed up (engine was freshly rebuilt as a spare), and shifted out of park. Engine died. Started her back up, and QUICKLY went to neutral. Went to First and it just went PUT PUT put PUT *dead*. It's getting plenty of vaccuum to its valve thing, but thats only needed for Drive, right? Not reverse or First/Second?
If i punch it AS or BEFORE i shift, it will go into the gear i choose, and move no faster than 3-4 MPH, and never more than 1000-1250 RPM.
The t-case is in Hi-Lock (full time), And i only have 4.11 gears. I'm going to assume it's the transmission, since the engine is in perfect condition (mechanic verified), and the rear/front and t-case were rebuilt at the same time.
Anyone have any ideas? Thank you very much!
Dave
