What are the specs of your cam? It might be it doesn't want to idle at 800... I had to crank my idle out to 1100rpm for my 255* @ .050 cam... but if your cam is that stout you probably do need a higher stall....
As said it could be a carb/tuning issue...
How is your timing advance set? A little more lead at idle might help
