Turbo 400? 700-r4or I already have a very good Turbo 350 in the car now.I also need advice on what to do about running kick down cable on the blower motor. Can i run without?

You may want to check out the folks at Raptor. They build some pretty bullet proof R4 transmissions from mild up to their strongest called the "Mega Raptor". It's close to $3K, but is good for 700HP and 700F/P of torque.
They have an engineering department that can help with any custom fabrication or will also be able to help you with any questions on the kick down.
See http://www.transmissioncenter.net/700MegaRaptor.htm
Good Luck and have fun with this one!!

a blown bbc with a 350? well.. it will move it but if you stand on it and that engine makes any steam you could bust it EZ the 700 go south to the only thing you have going for you is your car is light but ?? for a kick down for the 400 lokar makes oneIrish Diplomacy ..the ability to tell someone to go to Hell ,,So that they will look forward to to the trip

I have to concur with Pat - a 350 is just not designed for the kind of grunt a blown BBC will generate, no matter how light you tread on the gas. All it will take is one good lock up where the rear tires bite down and you be calling a tow truck for the ride home and the street sweeper to recover what's left of the transmission.
Even a very well built 350 is limited to the 450HP range on non-blown motors..

TCI 700R4 Leaky Blues
I have a TH 350 that I bought Used from the wrecking yard, recharged core, and fresh paint on outside, paid $900 bucks, oh, and also 2nd stage shift kit...
Now, I originally purchased a TCI SSF 700R4 with the High Stall TC to go with...paid cash, close to $5000, day I drove it home, leaked....
GM dealership installed it, TCI washes its hands of it, I am stuck with it....
I am pissed that nobody really stands behind with they sell.
This tranny was pulled and taken apart, put back together, reinstalled, and now is leaking again, less than 1000 miles this time.
TCI has pissed me off, GMC has pissed me off.
the Raptor Tranny would have been a better choice, made by a different manufactuer, and I would never go to GMC ever again for any kind of work on any of my vehicles, and I am even considering changing brands, even though I have been loyal to GM all of my working Life....

With a blown motor especially a BBC you will have no need for the deep 1st gear of the 700r. The T-400 is a good choice with a good rebuild and a shift kit.
I think you will have tough time keeping the 700r together with a blown bbc in any car.
I use a T-350 in my blown sbc Willys and would have no need what ever for a lower 1st gear. Mine has got 7500 miles on it in less than a year. Probably 1000 yards of burnt rubber. haha
Dollars and cents wise you can buy a lot of T-400's for what you will have in any OD trans.
Keep in mind that the OD will only be good if you are cruising at 65+ . Below 50 it probably won't engage anyway.41 Willys 350 sbc 6-71 blower t350, 9in, 4 link

My TCI SSF 700R4 will and does go into OD or 4th as low as 35-40mph, and when you hit the gas will stutter, seems to be the TC locking up and unlocking rapidly, but when you ease off the gas will stay in 4th and won't down shift..., when you manually shift to 3rd, and press the gas, seems to work better, when you get to 50-65mph and shift to OD or 4th then tranny seems to vibrate more the faster you go and it wants to go, but because of vibration scares me to go faster than 85mph

I have run a blown 454 in a street legal T bucket (weighs 2500lbs before I get in and made 627 dyno'd hp @5800 rpm) for the past 5 years with a stout powerglide. Ran 10.2 in street trim. Couldnt break the trans, but I didnt think much of the manual valve body, but was told I couldnt get a normal valve body that could live behind my engine.
I have upgraded to a blown 540 and am guessing it will be north of 850 real hp. So I got another upgraded powerglide.
Its still a street car, but I made the mistake of getting a transbrake in the new trans. My tb button is on my steering wheel & its a bear when reversing and turning. I may yet refit the old powerglide trans.
In a light car a powerglide is just fine. In a heavier car the T400 is a better bet because the ratios are better - 3 is better than 2

That car would be cool with a manual IMO.

700R will grenade behind that motor...too much torque. I used to live in Rockledge Fla and Johnny Winter was a neighbor. When I switched from a mild 350 to a new ZZ572 he said the same thing, no auto shift trans would live behind that motor. He built a manual shift Turbo 400 with a 3000 RPM stall converter for me which I backed up with a Gear Vendors overdrive unit. That was 4 years ago and the trans is still running strong after I added a 200 shot of nitrous. In Florida, Johnny Winter is known as Mr Glide but he can build a bulletproof 400 too! http://www.racewithjw.com/
Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
