    Which trans?

I am VERY new to this and have been contimplating building a '37 Ford. Have been thinking of going with a 502 or 350 crate engine. Which trans would you guys recommend? This is stricly street/show, doubt very highly it will ever see the track. Also not sure on the a$$ end, thinking of going with 350ish gears. Look forward to your suggestions. THANKS

700R is best for street.. You can run more rear gear and still get some cruising economy... 400 is a stronger unit but uses a lot more gas.

I'd put a 700R4 behind a 350 about any day. Behind a 502? I'm thinking not a good idea. A five or six speed manual would be a good idea also. 3.50 or 3.73 gears behind a five-speed with an overdrive would give decent economy, and a good hit off the line.

You could try a 400 and a gearvendors overdrive unit.... if you can afford it.
