    C4 problems

    Howdy all,

    So...doing donuts.

Turns out weak 6 cyl c4's wont take the abuse. The question is, what went wrong. Symptoms are slipping and grinding. I have a v8 c4 now, but this will be mounted behind a 6 cyl so I need to use my 6cyl torque converter. Is it possible that I busted some fins off in the converter or is that unlikely? I had a friend tell me it was likely I just burnt out the clutch packs, but it is showing the same symptoms in reverse. I dont know trannys very good so any help would be appreciated.

they common thing to go out on the c-4s is the clutch packs when juicing too much power through them.... i had one in my mustang before when i put a v8 in it and then quickly upgraded to a 6spd manual..... if you want a good strong tranny for that car and like manual then a 5spd out of a 4cyl 2.4 ranger will directly drop in your car and just need a clutch pedal and crossmember kit added.... your torque converter should be fine unless there were some broken hard parts that found their way into the converter but thats unlikely
just because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day
