    How to use transmission???

    Hello,

Sorry for the dumb questions I am new to this.

I am restoring a 1970 chevelle. I recently purchased a 383 stroker engine. I was planning to buy a new transmission with overdrive in it. When I mentioned this to the guy I purchased the engine from he said he had a transmission with overdrive. He had gotten in out of a 1980 camaro(give or take a year). He threw in the transmission for free.

How will I get this transmission to work with the rest of my drive train? The guy I purchased the motor from mentioned that I could buy something electronic to control the shifting but I didn't know what he was talking about. He said I could get it from B&M racing.

The tranmission has a small white plugin in the top left side near the back. I am assuming this is where I would plug in the equipment.

Once again, I am new this part so please give me as much info as you can.

    Thanks,

    Joe

And a valve body from TCI that eliminates TV cable problems......
    700R4 Constant Pressure Valve Body
Eliminate TV Cable-Induced 700R4 Failures Forever!
The TCI® 700R4 Constant Pressure Valve Body eliminates the threat of a burned up 700R4 forever by eliminating the danger of transmission failure that results from an improperly installed or adjusted TV cable. In the past, the TV cable adjustment on GM 700R4 transmissions required near-expert mechanical ability. Though the TV cable still needs to be used to set part-throttle shift points, line pressure is fixed at a minimum of 200psi -with no chance of burning up transmission clutch plates due to a low line pressure condition.

Hey thanks for the link. That site seems to have everything. So much in fact it confuses me!

I submitted an inquiry about my situation to their site.

Here is the desciption from the part number you gave me. Will this take care of it all. I am thinking I need some more stuff right?

    "Universal Lock-up Kit - 376600
Installation of this kit makes retrofits into non-ECM 700R4 or 2004R vehicles a snap. System allows automatic operation of the TCC in 4th gear under stable engine operation, and disengages the clutch when accelerating or down shifting. Also provided in the kit is a manual override option. Constructed from OEM connectors and oil resistant wire, we install this kit in all our complete 700R4 & 2004R StreetFighter® Transmissions."

Remember, I have a motor and a transmission, flexplate, and a torque converter I beleive . That's it. No other cables, electronics, parts...

    I will keep researching...

    Thanks,

    Joe

One quick question right off the line...

Looks like the Throttle Valve is pretty complicated to setup. If I get this will that solve the problem?
