    700R4 trans question

Hi All. Have a SBC350/330 crate motor with a 700R4 out of a 1986 Camaro(supposedly).in a '46 Ford. Just fired it for the first time the other day and drove it up and down the block. It wouldn't shift out of 1st gear. I did put a TPI lock-up kit in it. Question is, is there any other wiring supposed to go to this? or would this cause the no-shift? The TV cable seems to be correctly adjusted as far as I now, but thats not much when it comes to automatics. Many thanks for any and all advice. Charlyg.

I would take it by a trans shop. Its VERY easy to burn up the trans with a bad adjustment.

I don't necessarily buy the TV cable idea. Sounds like the governor. Anyhow, I answered this question earlier - including a link to a longer discussion.

if it will shift ouy at about 29 mph its tv related either ajustment or valve if it doesn't shift at all try the govenor tv cable should have no slack a full throtle If its too loose there is a check ball in the trans which will make it shift very late Gm did this in case the cable brakes
