    whining noise in th400

I have been driving this a bit much this year but my daily driver was in the shop. So here is what happened one day i heard this like noise almost thought it was my valve train and then i checked my lash all is good there. so I was talkin to a buddy of mine and he said it sounds more like a whining noise. try to change the fuild and see what happens. OH man bad idea now i really have a whining noise in all gears and real noticeable at a higher rpm. Any suggestion like bad front pump, anything.

T400 are very durable trannies. Check the filter that it is not mashed against the pan and check your lines for restrictions. It sounds like it is not circulating the fluid well causing the whine. Check with a pro shop, they may give you a better answer, they will probably want to rebuild it, check with a shop you can trust! Tohmer

i changed the filter and i was looking it over and it feeds from the top so being against the pan isnt gonna hurt it i wouldnt think anyway maybe wrong. what would happen if i didnt get the tube up into the tranny itself far enough. pretty sure i did but u never know. would that cause this noise?

Mine whines. Not real bad and not noticeable at speed. Also has a hard shift, usually from 1st to 2nd. 2nd to 3rd is pretty smooth. One day I will swap it for a 2004R but until then the 400 is a good trans.
