I like guages because they can show signs of failure long before its dangerous or costly most of the time.
Be nice to have one in the rear end of a performance ride.
Its like a airplane the more you can see thru guages ,the more you know about whats happening on the ride.Its gunna take longer than u thought and its gunna cost more too(plan ahead!)
