    Thumbs up odd swap 250L/700r4

Look Transmission Talk !? "thats new!"

    Well... how is everybody ?
been lurking a lil' when I get time
glad to see most everyone is still building.

    got a question:
Put a 250L in my 82 blazer a while back ,mated w/700r4 "been parked since ,just left the 6.2 converter in it".
Traded my mudder 78' blazer off and now I'm wanting to run around in the 83' and I need a to put the lock up Torque converter in it .

I'm getting told I need 2000 stall part #C48HD for $275.00 plus core $100.00 "because i ain'T got no core".

    Any body have info/ideas/better solutions.
I'll have to buy the lock-up switch also. "got links of places you'd recommend ?"

    It's an 1982 or 83 full size 308 highway gears / stock 250 w1bl /new 700r4 / run'n 33 12.50s may go to 35s
" I know... not as much fun as the old one but it's still a med size convertible redneck rig." I know it'll be cheaper to tool around in , no mud'N tho.

if that's what it's going to cost I'll pay it but I've learned thru my yearrrs of wisdom on this board to ask when in dought.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thumbs up

    http://www.roadrunnerconverters.com/index.html

Talked to Ronny (sounded much more knowledgeable then the other place) at Roadrunner Converters in Phoenix , Arizona. he's saying $125.00 and $30.00 for shipping no core charge . now I've got to check the input spline and see if it's 30 or 27 spline, since I replaced the trans right before I run the motor into the ground.

Now : The lock-up switch, any body got a place they'd recommend?

And does anyone know if the valve bodys are different from a diesel to a gas trans? This was brought up by a buddy and I don't know any knowledgeable auto trans guys to ask .This is the first i've heard of this , I thought the converter made the diffrence.

Valving and spacer plate porting are a bit different. Call Ronny back up and get some direction. I like dealing with those who treat me right. You know the expression, "Too many cooks spoil the soup". Keep him abreast of your progress and questions so he can guide you step by step when thngs go awry. There are answers here too when you run into questions and procedures.

What if the "Hokey Pokey" is what it's really all about?

    Talking

talked to Paul at Automatic Transmission Experts (somewhere in Arizona ,per Ronny) and yes they are a little different as in shifting a lil'earlier valving and spacer plate "as said above". He said should just be a matter of changing out the diesel governor to one for the gas unit to get me close enough "if I even notice a difference" .

    still looking for a lock-up switch .
