64 Powerglide Transmission

I have a 64 Impala with a 2 speed powerglide tranny. When I insatll a new carb. what should I do with the kick down linkage for the tranny?

Smittyiv.....Streets means well...Uncle Bob and I got him all Po asking about his not so loved senator....Damn !!!!!. I did it again...She IS NOT his senatore!!!!!!....I'll get it right yet....The lower linkage rod going to your 64 Powerglide should be adjustable...Hold the throttle wide open (don't forget to shut the engine off)....Pull the TV rod...(throttle valve)..all the way forward and adjust til it just fits in the lower hole of the carbs throttle arm..That pretty much sets it where it belongs...The TV is not only for kick down (passing gear) but controls the upshift as well...I've got three 64 SS Impalas...They all came off the same assembly line in Cailfornia.....Al...

im having a similar problem myself. I have installed a 650 holley on my impala (63) running a powerglide. I tried to get the position of the linkage as close to the original carburettor (had to make brackets from holley linkage) and now the transmission downshifts with a bang on decelleration and i dont seem to be able to adjust it out. Any ideas?

nevermind yall.... i didnt have the vacuum line to the transmission hooked up to enough vacuum LOL

I am just finishing putting in a 350 crate motor on a 64 impala SS that I got with no motor. It has a 2 speed powerglide but I can't find any existence of a kickdown for it. I see the vacuum for the tranny but thats it. I see some info out here that indicates these didn't have kickdowns but I see other info that indicates they do. Help, Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Also, I am trying to figure out the accelerator linkage, I put in a holley 600 and I have no reference to look at to get it all linked up right. Anyone have some pictures of their linkage they can share?
