tranny swap
i am swapping a tranny in a 2000 ford escort zx2 what if any other things i will needf besides fluid and new gaskets thanx?

a whole lot of patience and time. you will probably have to drop the entire front end assymbly and drive train down to do this, right.

Hey this is not that bad, usually about a 4 hour job. Completely drain it unless you want a big mess. Remove both axles, its a lot easier this way. Chain the rear of the engine so it can drop about 5 inches no more or it will rip loose from the mounts, trust me you don't want that.Slip cooler hoses off at the trans and plug. Remove battery and box, now you can remove the top bolts only from tranny rear mount ease it down a little and remove starter bolts and bellhousing bolts except for one on front side to hold it while lowering. Don't forget to unhook shifter linkage and speed sensor wire.Now lower it all the way down and remove last bellhousing bolt. To install just reverse the procedure.
