A C-6 is bigger, heavier, and beefier then a C-4. Both have 3 forward gears. A well built C-4 will handle 300 horse ok, the C-6 would only take some minor mods. Both trannies work good. I actually prefer the C-4 if it's going in a lighter car. C-6 will handle bigger horse and heavier cars and pickups, though.
The biggest drawback to a C4 is the low oil flow to the cooler. They overheat if you put too much power through them.
Thanks Guys!!
I thought this was going to be about Corvettes to which I was going to respond there is no comparison  :o
Nope, this thread is about real cars!!!!!!    :LOL:Quote:

Actually a well built C4 will handle 450 - 500Hp +, but, if you have room and a choice, a C6 is always the best way to go - tho a small block version is tough to find.
Dang Chebbie guys - ya mention a C4 or 6 they instantly think that we are talking about those clay pigeons that GM builds - you know, shatter when hit.
I feel so alone :o ...clearly I'm among several misguided ford people here
Nah - it's just guys that put 'foreign' engines into Ford products that fry our fries. But we will always try to treat them like they were dropped on their heads at an early age and just need some special care:eek: :D :D :DQuote:

How about a '69 L88 Vette powered by a 427 FE and toploader 4spd.:3dSMILE:Quote:

I think the PAYBACK Camaro is really funny, but a bit sick :HMMM: I can dish it but I sure can't take it :D
Actually I am putting a foriegn engine in a foriegn truck (both Ford though) and I have both boxes C4 & C6 for my 351W hence the original question, I just noticed that the C6 is much heavier, I will go C4 for starters.
Sorry guys but I love the Vette over here but the down side is gas at$8-9 a gallon and the steering on the wrong side.
There is also serious competition with similar performance cars over here but gas or not I just love a V8.
