If the rear end is turned over 180 degrees so the right tire is now the left, and visa versa, the car will have 3 speeds in reverse and one forward !! I saw this happen years ago. Some guy I knew thought it would rake his '50 Ford if he flipped the rear over so the spring perches were on top of the axle. He got it all buttoned up, put it in reverse to back down the driveway, and it went forward. All of us fell on the ground howling.

But, I don't see that happening here. He didn't say he removed the rear axle, just the tranny. What I want to know is WHAT HAPPENS IN EACH GEAR, NOT JUST D AND R.

Come on guy, we want to know what happened.

First car i ever had was a model A. Had to fix a broken axle and replaced the ring gear and axles from the wrong side. Yep, you guessed it! 1 speed forward and 3 speeds in reverse. Same principle applys today. (I think)

Could it be the axle is fine but the world has turned on it's axis?
No, problee' not, then we'd ALL be goin' backwards. Then again, better check just to be sure.

Ain't that the truth, Pro? Some days, well, actually, a lot of them, I feel as if I am going backwards, or at least downwards.

So, I wonder where ol' "wifes65" got off to. Prolly got that thing in reverse, and drove off into the sunrise.

would be a nice custom though...
rearrange the interiour from back to front and get used to rear wheel steering and your off!!
sure will catch some strange looks, going down mainstreet!!

how to make a rwd a one of a kind fwd!!
Going sideways through a bend isn't considered normal or even sane, so that's the way I like it!
