Tranny rebuilt recently and now leaking, company out of business
I had my tranny rebuilt in Aug and it is now leaking very badly. It had a 6 month warranty, but when I called the company the phone was out of service, so I drove by the shop and sure enough, a big closed sign taped to the door.
GGGGGRRRRRRRR
What are my options? Are the owners still responsible for the warranty?Go Hokies!!!!!! ACC CHAMPS '04,'07,'08

Do you know what S.O.L. means???? Where is the leak----if its only at the tailstock where the universal comes out, that's a 5 minute fix. Anywhere else is bad---Old guy hot rodder

Yep, warrantees are only as good as the company backing them. Every day we see somebody get stung here in Florida because businesses come and go overnight.
Lick your wounds and have a reputable shop check it out if you are not able to do it on your own. You aren't the first and won't be the last to get taken.

I figured I would be SOL....LOL Just my luck.
It's a turbo 350, and it appears that it is coming from the bottom pan, but not exactly sure. Also what type of fluid should I put back into it to get it to a shop? There are so many to choose from.
I have 11 days to get it fixed, because I'm using it in my wedding..........................Go Hokies!!!!!! ACC CHAMPS '04,'07,'08

Youther,
First, its not too late...get that transmission fixed and run for the hills!
Just kidding, congrats on getting married.
As for the tranny, if the bottom pan is leaking, your "out of business" tranny guy could have simply over-tightened your pan gasket causing it to leak after a few miles.
I would suggest draining the tranny and inspecting the fluid. If it looks clear of contaminants, then continue by removing the pan carefully so as to find where the gasket failed. Inspect the mounting flange so as to determine if the pan is bent or if they simply over-tightened the gasket.
If all is good, replace the gasket and refill with fluid and then check for leaks. You may have to straighten the pan flange or replace the pan all together to correct the issue. Hopefully this will resolve the issue and have you back on the road ready for the big day!
Best regards!

For future reference: I've seen the kickdown cables snap right off where they bolt into the transmission and they still look like they are together but fluid will pour out from the crack in the tube.If I knew anything I'd be dangerous.
When my mother-in-law's goldfish died she thought a good replacement would be a hamster. The poor little thing drowned in seconds. .
