Denny - my case and tailhousing numbers indicate its a late '65, with the speedo drive on the RH side. I was aware of the different gear od's, but the problem is that the machined area on the shaft appears to be 1/2" closer to the trans than it should be. I don't see on any lists where there is more than one 27 spline tailshaft. I'm taking it to a Lacey shop in the AM that said they have a Muncie "expert". Maybe the gear can be moved back a little without "falling off" of the machined part of the shaft. We'll see.

Jim - I don't see a Race World in the Oly phone book at hand. There is a Ray Wallace on S. Bay Rd. and I think I know where his shop is - an engine builder, right? I'll check it out.

    Thanks, guys.

That's the one, he's one of the best for rears and gears. I'd tell you to bring it in to me but I'm so swamped it isn't funny.
