The 700r4 can be made plenty strong enough when built right and beefed up. I'm running a Blown 406 on 10 pounds of boost, cam is 538-558 advertised lift. Running a 2200 stall converter. I will say I haven't beat on it yet. But will once I get the pressures right. With the stall converter I've got, the car just sits there with very little pedal pressure. As far as Phoenix goes can't help you there.
