Spindle is kind of a misleading term. What you get is the whole steering knuckle. The upper end of the "spindle" bolts to the upper ball joint. The lower end of the spindle bolts to the lower ball joint.

    That's the long answer.

The short answer is yes, they're a bolt in, as long as they're made for your car/suspension.

On these Mustang II spindles, the upper ball joint bolts to "A", the lower ball joint to "B" and the tie rod end to "C".

Would you think cast iron dropped spindles( they say oem) 179.00 are just as dependable as Heidts heat treated alloy 300.00? Thanks Jim

Short answer - probably not. In terms of strength, there's no comparison. However, there are lots of stock or OEM cast iron or cast ductile iron spindles out there that have never broken. I've got Super Bell cast ductile iron spindles on my '34 Coupe, and I used stock Mustang cast spindles on my '30 A-bone.

The chances of a Heidt's spindle breaking - when He** freezes over. The chances of the others breaking. A little more than that.

One thing to consider. Where are you going to run your car? If it's a street driver, that's one choice. If it's off road, that's another. If it's hi-po drag strip, that's another.

If you go with cast, use new ones and make sure they're not from some off-shore foundry in Pakistan or the like.

    Thanks, Denny.

Further info: Super Bell I-beam axles and spindles are cast from ductile iron, and ya don't get many better parts than Super Bell.

    Streets,

I may be wrong, but I seem to remember that Kyle Bond's brother is either THE owner or a major owner of Super Bell.

Super bell is now owned by Pete & Jakes. Originally was started by Jim Ewing.

    Bob,

You're right, of course. Jerry and Jason Slover bought Pete and Jakes' from . . . well . . . Pete and Jake. However, I still believe that Kyle's brother has an interest.
