    Nova suspension

    Hey everybody,
Im in need of a little quicker times at the track and im gonna work on the rear suspension of my car instead of the motor, Im looking more toward planting the car better and weight transfer, I work at a local track and watch 14 second cars pull the wheels, i run high elevens and still nothing unless i would hop the darn thing. (71 Nova) anyways does anybody know any tricks of the trade, i have junk airshocks that came in the car, I never run any air in them cause well.............they are junk. Any recommendations on rear shocks and what should i set them at? Or does anyone have any other recommendations, i dont plan on tubbing it or 4 link, coil over, all that good stuff, im just looking at basic suspension set up, i have traction bars, 10.5 inch slicks,
    4.56s already. ANy help???

Any good gas shock would be better than a broken air shock. Are the snubbers on your traction bars touching the springs?? What does your car weigh?? Try some 90/10 drag shocks on the front. What are your 60 foot times?? Manual or auto trans??

350 runs 11 90s, turbo 400, high 1.6 low 1.7s in the 60 ft. The snubbers are not touching but honestly i didnt know they should be, i have about a inch and a half in between them and the leaf springs, should they be touching and since they are not adjustable how could i snub them up or do i need to buy different traction bars???

The bars should be just touching the springs, this way when you launch the car, the bars will help the hook and weight transfer instead of waiting for 1 1/2" of travel before they start working. The wedge plates will help, or if you want to get some good bars you might want to consider the "J-Bolt" style traction bars, Lakewood used to make a set. Been a long time since I ran a leaf spring car so I'm not real sure who has them anymore. If you really want to improve the hook and weight transfer, use a set of housing floaters and ladder bars.
