A good quality coil spring compressor will do the trick. I believe if I was going to change one I'd change both.Ken Thomas

wat about cutting the stock springs? I know it will affect the ride but im goin for a hotrod old skool style. wat do u guys think?

You can do those without a spring compressor..Just make sure the jackstand is under the lower control arm when you disconnect the ball joint.Then jack the truck up to unload the spring.If you're not sure of what you are doing the spring is a dangerous thing to mess with. You can cut a wrap off the spring and put it back in,this will lower it and stiffen the ride.I remember when hot rods were all home made.

I saw last night on fb about John. The world sure lost a great one. I'm going to miss his humor, advice, and perspective from another portion of the world. Rest in Peace Johnboy.
