I have a 51 chev pu that I want to put a newer chev (74-87) front susp into. I have seen other material on this swap. Does anybody have any info on this?

I cosidered this swap once but not for long. It's a front steer unit.The steering box is ahead of the front wheels. It would be difficult to make it work in most situations.
Some people have used a Dodge aspen/ plymouth Volare front end with good results. They have torsion bars instead of springs. I have'nt had any experience with them myself.
I reccomend the Pontiac Fiero front end. It's easy to install and has rack and pinion steering and disc brakes.
I installed one in a 40 Ford pickup and posted some pictures in the "hot rod engineering" forum. If you look at the pictures you can see how easy it is to install.

I've seen others, but don't recall where they were. Like most IFS swaps for these trucks, this approach ends up a little too wide.Steve@OldSub.com
