40 chevy RE swap, whats a good fit ?
I have a 40 chevy tudor i am starting soon , and need to start shopping for a rearend , what have you guys used m i think the 40 - 48 rears are the same length from flange to flange , I have all of those charts , giving dimensions , but most seem to only give either spring pad widths or backing plate to backing plate width , the last of which is next to useless info,
I hear 55-64 chevy is a good fit and 55-7 may just bolt in with the pilot holes moved forward a bit-????
also heard the same for the 19?? camao/firechicken rears , anyone know for sure??? Thanks in advance D/GLast edited by Dgas56; 01-24-2007 at 08:36 AM.

Dgas,
I'm sorry I can't help you with your question but I happen to have the same exact car as yours(40 chevy).Mine is missing a bunch of parts such as glass,Glass mounting hardware ,front grill etc.I was hoping you might be able to tell me where I can acquire these items.By the way,do you know if it's possible to install corvette front and rear suspensions on these babies?
Thanks for your time.

The 67-69 Camaro,as well as the 68-74 Nova and the Lincoln Versailles and Ford Granada 9" are bolt in's.

Granada 9" is a bolt in ??? then a Granada 8" might be too. what years ?? I'm thinking those Granada 9"s come at a premium these days as do the Versalles disc brake rears- IF you can find them, But I think I can find a camaro/firebird rear cheap, enough pad to redrill for centering the rear in the wheel well ??
These pic are from last spring just b4 i sold the car , I just got it back, It had wheel adapters on the back w 49-54 chevy drums in front. this time I wll be going to 49-54 spindles (gives about 1" drop and the option of going to disc brakes at a later time) plus one coil cut out,That should drop the front about 3", then I wll be using whatever rear I end up with, stock springs, traction bars(just cause I like em for an infrequent qtr mile blast), and 2" lowering blocks in back,
Blacknight 1 check your pm's
,thanks ,DG
